True that in terms of technological advances this table features what seems like a new level of how we interact with technology, but still, why would I or anyone want to spend a little fortune on purchasing an immobile Coffee table which can't be taken anywhere, let alone using it for basic computer functions such as typing papers and browsing the internet. I mean imagine having to direct your vision in an awkward angle to read a website or watch a movie. I doubt it's ergonomically safe in the long run and I can see future headlines in the lines of "Neck injuries caused by the Coffee table!"a la Wii's wrist injuries.
For goodness' sake, "to buy a coffee table" doesn't sound right even. What were they thinking? Something like a super new laptop with a luminous 4-square windows logo on the back similar to macintosh's luminous apple would have been a good start, and maybe use some of this advanced touch-screen technology while at it. All computers that use the windows OS are produced by other companies, so such product would be a practical addition.. But to be fair I will give it a try before deeming it as an insult to us, the microsoft herd. They will be showcasing it in a hotel in New York on June 9, and since I happen to be in New York nowadays I will drop by if I wasn't busy on that day for a quick visit if it wasn't too crowded.

The apple TV commercials with a group of nerdy men representing microsoft versus a casual guy representing apple could be taken to a new level of mockery now. Seriously what the hell was on Microsoft's mind?

LOOOOOOL!!! mas5ara!
Well, to give credit where it is due, most pundits are actually very impressed with the technology involved.
Keep in mind this is just a prototype, and the final product may not necessary resemble a coffee table. For e.g., maybe it can be tilted to become a painter's easel.
I don't think the technology has anything to do with a specific hardware, but how we "interact" with it. In this case, you interact with the hardware using both your hands and it actually makes perfect sense.
Observe the phenomenal success of Nintendo wii. Their entire success is based on the wiimote and how it interacts with the console. The console itself is nothing compared to the next gen consoles like PS3 or Xbox 360, but it is outselling them by a huge margin because people love to get involved in the process.
Hi cajie :)
I agree what matter is how we interact with the technology and moreover the nature/advancement of the technology itself; that's why i suggested it'd be much more convenient if microdoft implemented their newly developped hand-sensitive technology to devices that are more practical for use than an immotile table like a new laptop or a paper-thin, foldable screen.. you know.. check out me most recent post it's my thoughts on the table after ive seen it in a public viewing.
